In biology, my class learned about adaptive radiation, and to demonstrate our learning, each student was asked to create a presentation on a species that underwent adaptive radiation. The most popular example of adaptive radiation is the Hawaiian Honeycreepers. The species I presented on was the Maui Parrotbill (Kiwikiu) and I created a poster style presentation on Canva. This was the first project I used Canva for. My biology teacher, Ms. Wilson, introduced the site to me.
21st Century Skills
The 21st century skill I associate with this project is Information Skills. I had to learn how to make an interesting and fun presentation on a program that was unfamiliar to me. I also had to navigate the internet for facts about the Honeycreepers, including who their ancestors were, how they arrived in the Hawaiian Islands, and how they adapted based on their food source.
