Name of Assignment: Responses
Subject: Sociology Facilitator/Teacher: Professor Perry After writing forums about the information we read about in class, and applying it to real world problems or to ourselves, I and my classmates are required to respond to each other and discuss the topic that our forums are talking about. I associate this skill with interpersonal skills, as I was required to discuss the forums with my classmates in a respective manner. After a few weeks with one group, our professor switched the groups up, so that we could respond to and read the forums of different classmates. I’m proud that I was able to connect with my classmates, and that we could discuss topics that in school might’ve been too controversial. I improved my skills because I was able to communicate and have a civil discussion with my classmates in a virtual environment. The most difficult part of this assignment was meeting the required word count of +200 words, mainly because in most conversations responses are very short and brief. If you could start over, what would you do differently? I would ask my classmates more questions, as sometimes I did and sometimes I didn’t. Mainly, I didn’t want to come off as being nosy or pushy so I wouldn’t ask too many questions. In the past, I have learned that it is important to remain civil and professional in a discussion about real world events, and that even if you don’t agree with someone, you should still hear their point of view. In the future, I will remain polite when having these types of discussions with people, whether it’s in person or online. |
